Implications??
The following came from a USA Today article by Greg Toppo:
In 1988, the typical (public school) teacher had 15 years of experience, according to research by the University of Pennsylvania's Richard Ingersoll. By 2008, it was down to one year.
Wow - that has to have huge implications in many directions, John.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if new, young teachers could come into the profession being expected to account for student progress and to develop a feedback loop (formative assessment) so that students, at all grade levels, are involved in responsibility for their learning success? Instead of fearing or underestimating the state of the profession because of so many inexperienced teachers, we can use this time as an opportunity to set new expectations for beginning teachers that will lead to new habits and qualities that teachers will value and grow to develop.
